What is Myotherapy?

Myotherapy involves the detection and treatment of muscular dysfunction. Treatment focuses on soft tissue structures, including muscle, tendon, ligament and Myofascial connective tissue.

Treatment may be needed to normalise muscle length, decrease muscle tension, improve muscle strength to stabilise surrounding joints or improve co-ordination between muscles for optimal function and movement.

Outcomes are achieved with hands-on soft tissue manipulation, including;

  • Myofascial Release
  • Corrective Exercise
  • Trigger Point Therapy
  • Stretching
  • Dry Needling
  • Massage

Benefits of Myotherapy include;

  • Reduction in muscle pain, tension and stiffness caused by exercise, overuse, emotional tension, trauma and the effects of surgery.
  • Shorter healing/recovery time because of increased blood flow and metabolism in the muscle.
  • Enhances movement and muscular power by increasing the efficiency of muscle actions.
